ALBERTO LVPO JANELLI

Tenor

Tenor of Italian nationality, but of Anglo-Saxon musical training (in fact, he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Maestro David Pollard and at the Royal Northern Manchester College of Music with Maestro Anthony Roden), has worked with many companies in the United Kingdom, debuting the roles of Alfredo La Traviata), Cassio (Othello), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Ferrando (Cosí fan Tutte), Rinaldo (The Country Philosopher), Beppe (I pagliacci), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Lenskij (Evgenij Onegin).

Later he played the roles of Bajazet (Tamerlane), First Shepherd (Orpheus) and Chévalier de la Fôrce (Les Dialogues des Carmélites) for the Aldeburgh Festival, Conte Almaviva (The Barber of Seville) for the Bristol Opera Project, Paolino (Il Matrimonio Segreto) in the RNCM/Opera North co-production, Arvino (I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata) for Gli Amici di Verdi, Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) for the
Mid-Wales Opera and Male Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia) for the Manchester Opera House.

He made his debut at the Royal Opera House in London creating the role of The Scenographer in the world premiere of Un Re in Ascolto by Luciano Berio and also returns there for the Schöne Jungling in Die Frau ohne Schatten by Strauss and Leherbube in Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.
For the English National Opera, however, he plays the Squirrel/Mole in The Cunning Little Fox by Janâcèk and the Second Masker in Stephen Oliver's Timon of Athens. Debuts at the Glyndebourne Festival in the role of Zimmerkellner in Arabella, and covers the roles of Matteo (Arabella), Lensky (Onegin), Attalo Hermione), also taking part in the production of Peter Sellers' Theodora (Handel).

He made his debut in Italy by creating the role of Spizzi in the world premiere of Federico's The Giants of the Mountain B. Amendola at the Batignano Festival and the same author then entrusted him with the part of Soloist Tenor in the recording of his Oratorio A Children's Mass. He later made his debut at the Teatro Regio in Turin as Leherbube in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna as Tenor Soloist in Stravinsky's Les Noces and Orff's Catulli Carmina.

He then played Tom Rakewell's cover in The Rake's Progress at the Châtelet Theater in Paris, Malcolm in Macbeth at the Monte Carlo Opera, Alfredo in La Traviata at the Teatro Bonci in Cesena and Goffredo in Handel's Rinaldo (in the Corghi edition) at the Teatro Bellini in Catania, where he returned for Il Trittico.
His most recent engagements include Alfredo for the Riverside Opera at the Richmond Theatre in London, the cover of Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw by B. Britten at the Teatro Comunale di Cagliari and Tom Rakewell in The Rake's Progress for the Teatro Regio in Turin., as well as Schönen Jungling in the revival of the
Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Royal Opera House, Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw for the Cambridge Festival and most recently plays the role of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar as well as the roles of Ulysses and Manfredi in The Divine Comedy the Work of Monsignor Marco Frisina.

Finalist at the AS.LI.CO Competition in Milan and finalist at the Concours International de Chant Lyrique in Milan MARMANDE in France, was the winner of the 51^ Edition of the Experimental Opera Theater Competition "A. BELLI" of Spoleto.
In the Symphonic Field, among the most recent performances, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Messiah and Handel's Judas Maccabeus, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Hymn of Praise, the Stabat Mater and the Petite Masses Solennelle and Rossini's Messa di Gloria, Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C minor, Mass in C by Leopold Mazart, Verdi's Requiem, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, the Stabat Mater by Dvôrák, Orff's Carmina Burana and Catulli Carmina and Britten's War Requiem.
